Best Yield Optimizers on Stellar (2026): 7 Compared
The best yield optimizers on Stellar in October 2026: WhaleHub for AQUA, Upshift and DeFindex for USDC, plus Stellar DeFi Hub and Spectra. Yields, TVL, risks.
Updated 20 October 2026: TVL and APY figures from the DefiLlama API; product rules from each project's documentation and contracts; WhaleHub figures read from its staking contract on-chain.
The best yield optimizers on Stellar in 2026 split by asset. For AQUA, the default is WhaleHub, which pools ICE voting power on Aquarius and can restake your rewards for you. For USDC and XLM, the largest curated options are Upshift's earnUSDC and earnXLM vaults and wallets built on DeFindex. Stellar DeFi Hub pays incentives on idle deposits, and Spectra sells a fixed rate. Below are seven, with where the yield comes from and what can go wrong.
Disclosure: WhaleHub publishes this blog. We name it the default for AQUA holders because it is the only optimizer built for AQUA and ICE; for stablecoins, the numbers below favour others, and we say so.
Stellar yield optimizers at a glance
| Optimizer | Best for | Yield source | Stellar TVL, 20 Oct 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| WhaleHub | AQUA holders (default pick) | Aquarius rewards and bribes via pooled ICE | $14K |
| Upshift (Gami Labs, Stake Capital) | Curated USDC and XLM yield | Blend, Aquarius, Sushi, Templar | $28.9M |
| DeFindex | Yield inside a wallet or app | Mainly Blend lending | $19.5M |
| Stellar DeFi Hub | Idle XLM, USDC or PYUSD until November | Ecosystem incentives | $95.0M |
| Spectra | A fixed rate on tokenized Treasuries | Yield tokenization | $0.50M |
| Excellar | Institutions, outside the US | Delta-neutral strategies | $0.18M |
| Vaquita | Committed savers | Rewards funded by early-withdrawal penalties | $38K |
TVL is DefiLlama's Stellar figure for each protocol on 20 October 2026. Upshift and Gami Labs are listed as two entries with the same $28.9M on Stellar: they are the same vaults, counted once by the platform and once by the curator.
What counts as a yield optimizer
A yield optimizer is a contract that holds deposits, puts them in other protocols, and automates the claim, swap and reinvest loop so that the depositor holds one growing position instead of managing it. On Stellar the category includes auto-compounding stakers, curated vaults and vault infrastructure for apps.
Optimizers do not create yield; they route it. What they add is labour, scale and timing. Two things make Stellar a good home for them: transactions cost a fraction of a cent, so frequent compounding is not eaten by fees, and the base layer (Blend for lending, Aquarius for trading and liquidity rewards) is concentrated enough that a vault can cover most of the yield on offer with a handful of integrations. For the general idea, see what a yield aggregator is.
1. WhaleHub — the default for AQUA
WhaleHub is a yield optimizer for AQUA, Aquarius' token. You stake AQUA, receive BLUB as a staking receipt, and the protocol locks the pooled AQUA for ICE voting power, votes it toward the best-paying Aquarius markets, collects rewards and bribes, and pays stakers in AQUA. Its staking APY read 32.5% on 20 October 2026.
The case for WhaleHub as the default is narrow and specific: if you hold AQUA, the alternative is to lock it for ICE yourself, pick markets every voting cycle and claim by hand, with too little ICE to matter. WhaleHub does that at pooled scale. Three products sit on top of the same contract:
- Staking. Lock AQUA, receive BLUB 1:1 at the lock, and earn half of the protocol's AQUA income, shared pro rata. Rewards are paid in AQUA (since September 2026) and can be claimed every 7 days. The 32.5% figure comes from the hourly feed at whalehub.io/apy.json, which reads the contract's reward state; it moves with Aquarius rewards and the price of AQUA.
- Auto-restake. Since 19 October 2026, stakers with at least 150,000 BLUB can switch on auto-restake. Each week, when the claim cooldown ends, a keeper restakes the pending AQUA for you: 70% is locked again as staked BLUB and 30% goes into the boosted vault in your name. The first runs went through on 19 October at 03:00 UTC. Details: WhaleHub auto-restake.
- Boosted vault. Deposit AQUA alone and the vault adds it to the BLUB-AQUA pool. WhaleHub pays 30% of its AQUA income into this vault as extra liquidity without minting new shares, so every share grows. The app shows a rate measured over the last 7 days; the vault is small, so that rate is high and swings widely. The underlying pool earns almost nothing on its own (about 0.2%), because Aquarius stopped directing rewards to it in June 2026.
Risks. BLUB is a floating, market-priced token, not a claim on a fixed amount of AQUA. Staked AQUA is locked for ICE and unstaking has a 10-day cooldown. The contract is upgradeable by a 2-of-3 admin multisig, and a single-signature manager key runs the reward keeper; the manager can act for auto-restake users only within fixed rules, crediting every output to that same user. WhaleHub is small: DefiLlama tracked about $14K on 20 October 2026, because most staked AQUA sits in ICE locks and AQUA trades at a fraction of a cent. Read what BLUB is and how to stake AQUA before you deposit.
2. Upshift — curated USDC and XLM vaults
Upshift is a multi-chain vault platform that brought its vault standard to Stellar in June 2026. Its two Stellar vaults, earnUSDC and earnXLM, are co-curated by Gami Labs and Stake Capital. On 20 October 2026 DefiLlama showed earnUSDC at $25.3M with a 10.0% 30-day APY and earnXLM at $3.65M with 5.0%.
A curator decides where the money goes, within limits set by the vault's admin, and Upshift's launch named Blend, Aquarius, SushiSwap and Templar as the first venues. Shares are priced on-chain as total assets over total supply. Withdrawals are instant up to the cash the vault holds; beyond that, you wait for the curator to bring funds back. The Stellar contracts were audited by Halborn in March and April 2026 and are upgradeable. Full breakdown: Upshift on Stellar.
Best for: USDC or XLM holders who want a professional allocator and accept a curator's discretion and an off-chain custody leg (Fordefi MPC wallets) as part of the deal.
3. DeFindex — the vault layer inside wallets
DeFindex is vault infrastructure for Stellar wallets and fintech apps: the app integrates it once and offers its users a balance that earns. Yield comes mainly from Blend lending through an auto-compounding strategy. DefiLlama showed $19.5M on 20 October 2026, almost all USDC.
End users usually meet DeFindex inside another app rather than on its own site. Each vault's strategy list is fixed at creation, fees are charged only on yield, and no role can freeze withdrawals. Because nearly everything is USDC routed to Blend, Blend's USDC supply rate (5.79% on the Fixed pool on 20 October 2026, per DefiLlama) is the best guide to what a DeFindex vault earns before fees. More: what DeFindex is.
4. Stellar DeFi Hub — incentives on idle deposits
Stellar DeFi Hub, run by Sentora, is a set of XLM, USDC and PYUSD vaults that pay incentive rewards to depositors who stay until the vault period ends in November 2026. It was the largest of the group by deposits, at $95.0M on 20 October 2026, up from $55.8M on 9 October.
Strictly, it is a pre-deposit programme rather than an optimizer today: when we checked on 9 October, the deposits were sitting in the vault contracts, not being lent or traded. Rewards come from ecosystem incentives held in a separate escrow and are claimed after the period ends; withdrawing early forfeits the rewards on what you take out. A 4-of-7 multisig can upgrade the vaults. More: Stellar DeFi Hub explained.
5. Spectra — fix your rate
Spectra is a yield-tokenization protocol, formerly APWine, that opened fixed-term markets on Stellar in September 2026 for deJTRSY, a tokenized Janus Henderson Treasury fund issued through Centrifuge. It held about $0.50M on Stellar on 20 October 2026.
Spectra splits a yield-bearing token into a principal token, which trades at a discount and redeems at face value at maturity, and a yield token, which collects the variable yield in the meantime. Buying the principal token locks in a fixed rate. On Stellar the markets trade on an order book rather than an AMM, and Gami Labs seeded the first liquidity. It optimizes certainty rather than headline yield. Background: tokenized money market funds.
6. Excellar — delta-neutral yield for institutions
Excellar offers stablecoin and crypto yield from delta-neutral strategies to institutions and businesses through its USDXLR product and APIs. It is not available in the US or other restricted jurisdictions. DefiLlama tracked $0.18M on Stellar on 20 October 2026.
The strategy is basis trading: holding an asset while shorting it elsewhere to earn the funding or carry between the two. That yield depends on off-chain venues and counterparties, which is a different risk from on-chain lending.
7. Vaquita — savings with a commitment
Vaquita is a savings protocol that pays extra interest to depositors who keep to their chosen term and penalizes early withdrawals, sharing those penalties with the people who stay. DefiLlama tracked $38K on Stellar on 20 October 2026.
It suits small, regular savers who want a reason not to touch the money. The extra rate depends on how many others withdraw early, so it is not predictable in advance.
The do-it-yourself baseline
Every optimizer above should be compared with doing it yourself. Supplying USDC to Blend's Fixed pool paid 5.79% on 20 October 2026, with no vault fee and no curator. Providing liquidity on Aquarius earns swap fees plus AQUA rewards on pools that ICE votes favour. An optimizer is worth its extra layer only if it earns more than that, saves you meaningful work, or both. See USDC yield on Stellar and how Aquarius works.
How to choose
- You hold AQUA: WhaleHub. Stake, and if your stake is 150,000 BLUB or more, switch on auto-restake.
- You hold USDC and want someone else to manage it: Upshift's earnUSDC, or a wallet that embeds DeFindex. Compare the rate with Blend's direct supply rate first.
- You hold XLM: Upshift's earnXLM, or Stellar DeFi Hub if you can leave it until November.
- You want a known rate: a Spectra principal token, held to maturity.
- You want the fewest moving parts: supply to Blend yourself.
The risks to weigh
- Stacked contracts. A vault adds its own code to the risk of every protocol it uses. A Blend or Aquarius incident reaches the vault.
- Admin and curator keys. Most of these contracts are upgradeable. Check who holds the keys and how many signatures they need.
- Reward-driven yield. Incentive programmes end. A rate funded by emissions or a campaign can fall overnight; a rate from borrowers or trading fees falls more slowly.
- Liquidity. Some vaults pay out instantly only up to the cash they hold. Locks and cooldowns, like WhaleHub's 10-day unstake, mean you cannot always exit at once.

Frequently asked questions
What is a yield optimizer?
A yield optimizer takes a deposit, puts it to work in one or more underlying protocols, and does the repetitive work for you: claiming rewards, swapping them, reinvesting them and moving funds when a better rate appears. You hold a share of the pool. The yield still comes from the protocols underneath; the optimizer saves time and transaction effort and, at scale, can earn more than a single user could.
What is the best yield optimizer on Stellar?
It depends on what you hold. For AQUA, WhaleHub is the purpose-built option: it pools ICE voting power and pays stakers in AQUA, with an auto-restake switch for larger positions. For USDC, the biggest curated options on 20 October 2026 were Upshift's earnUSDC vault ($25.3M, 10.0% 30-day APY per DefiLlama) and wallets that embed DeFindex. WhaleHub publishes this blog, so weigh that when reading our pick.
Are Stellar yield optimizers safe?
None is risk-free. Each adds its own contract, admin keys and curator decisions on top of the risks of the protocols it uses, such as Blend and Aquarius. Stellar had two notable incidents in 2026: a roughly $10M oracle exploit in the community-run YieldBlox pool on Blend in February and a roughly $717K exploit of the Comet pool holding Blend's backstop in August. See DeFi risks.
Does auto-compounding make sense on Stellar?
Yes, more than on most chains. A Stellar transaction costs a fraction of a cent, so reinvesting often does not eat the reward. The limit is usually the protocol's own rules, such as WhaleHub's 7-day claim cooldown, rather than fees. See auto-compounding explained.
Why does DefiLlama show WhaleHub's TVL as small?
WhaleHub is a young, small protocol and DefiLlama tracked about $14K for it on 20 October 2026. Most of the AQUA staked through WhaleHub is locked for ICE voting power, and AQUA trades at a fraction of a cent, so the dollar figure is low even when the AQUA amount is large.
Holding AQUA? Start with the default
Stake AQUA on WhaleHub, turn on auto-restake, and let pooled ICE voting and compounding run without you.
