WhaleHub Boosted Vault: How the BLUB-AQUA Vault Earns
How WhaleHub's BLUB-AQUA vault works: AQUA-only deposits, 30% of voting revenue added as liquidity, auto-restake deposits, the 7-day APY, exits and risks.
Updated 25 October 2026: vault and pool figures read from WhaleHub's staking contract and the Aquarius BLUB-AQUA pool on-chain; income from WhaleHub's public vault-income feed; rules from WhaleHub's documentation.
The WhaleHub boosted vault is a liquidity vault over the BLUB-AQUA pool on Aquarius. You deposit AQUA, and the vault grows from WhaleHub's own revenue: 30% of the AQUA its pooled ICE votes earn is added to the vault as liquidity, without minting new shares. There is no lock, nothing to claim, and you can leave at any time. This guide covers how it works, what the APY measures and what can go wrong.
Disclosure: WhaleHub publishes this blog. The figures below are read from the contracts and can be checked by anyone.

How the vault works
You deposit AQUA into WhaleHub's staking contract, which adds it to the Aquarius BLUB-AQUA pool and credits you vault shares. Your shares are a claim on part of the vault's LP. When WhaleHub adds revenue to the vault, the LP grows but the number of shares does not, so every share is worth more LP.
The contract tracks the vault's LP in a field called total_lp_tokens. Two things raise it: deposits, which also mint shares, and WhaleHub's revenue deposits through admin_compound_deposit, which do not. The second kind is the yield. You never claim it: it is already inside your position, and you receive it when you withdraw.
The contract also holds WhaleHub's own protocol-owned liquidity in the same pool, but tracks it separately. Protocol-owned liquidity takes no part of the vault's revenue, so all of Stream B goes to depositors.
Where the yield comes from: Stream B
WhaleHub locks pooled AQUA for ICE voting power, votes it on the Aquarius market that pays best for it, and collects the resulting AQUA. That revenue is split four ways every 6 hours: 50% to stakers, 30% to the vault, 10% to protocol-owned liquidity and 10% to the treasury. The vault's 30% is Stream B.
Stream B is deposited as AQUA only. It is never half-swapped into BLUB first, for a practical reason: the pool is lopsided. On 25 October 2026 it held 292,876 AQUA against 8,862,047 BLUB, so AQUA was about 3% of the tokens. In a StableSwap pool, adding the scarce side mints more LP per unit of value than a balanced deposit and moves the pool back toward balance. Each deposit is quoted against the pool first and carries a minimum-LP floor, so it cannot be sandwiched.
The split runs every 6 hours, but a deposit only happens when there is revenue to deposit. Between 18 and 25 October 2026 there were 8 deposits totalling 175,717 AQUA, according to WhaleHub's public /public/vault-income feed, which reads the deposits from the chain. For the full revenue model, see ICE voting and bribes on Aquarius.
The second inflow: auto-restake
Stakers who switch on WhaleHub's auto-restake send 30% of each reward cycle into the vault. Unlike Stream B, these deposits create new shares in the staker's own name: they are that staker's deposit, not a reward to existing depositors.
Auto-restake runs once a day at 03:00 UTC for stakers whose 7-day claim cooldown has passed and who have at least 150,000 BLUB staked. It restakes 70% of their pending AQUA as BLUB and deposits the other 30% into the vault as AQUA. Three wallets had opted in on 25 October 2026. Because every auto-restake deposit is also AQUA, it pushes the pool toward balance in the same way Stream B does. Details: WhaleHub auto-restake.
What the vault APY measures
The APY in the app is the AQUA that Stream B added to the vault over the last 7 days, valued at current prices, divided by the vault's current value and annualised. It looks backward, not forward.
Three things make it volatile. Voting revenue changes week to week with Aquarius bribes and rewards. The vault is small, so a given amount of revenue is a large share of it. And the vault's value depends on the market price of BLUB, which floats. Treat the figure as "what last week would have paid if it repeated", not as a rate.
The pool's own Aquarius rewards are close to zero. Aquarius stopped directing rewards to BLUB-AQUA in mid-2026, and they resume only if the pool is approved again. Swap fees add a little on top of Stream B.
How to deposit
- Open the Liquidity Vaults page in the WhaleHub app and connect a Stellar wallet such as LOBSTR or Freighter.
- Choose AQUA only (recommended) or both tokens. For a pair deposit, the second amount follows the pool ratio.
- Set your slippage tolerance (0.5% by default) and confirm in your wallet.
Single-sided BLUB deposits are disabled because they would push the pool further off balance. If you hold BLUB and want to earn on it, stake it instead: see how to stake on WhaleHub.
How to withdraw
There is no lock. You choose between two exits:
- Both tokens. You receive AQUA and BLUB in the pool's current ratio. This leaves the pool's balance unchanged, so the pool charges nothing extra. Given the ratio, most of the value comes back as BLUB.
- One token. You take everything out as AQUA or as BLUB. The pool charges an imbalance fee, which grows with the size of the withdrawal and is largest when you take the scarce side, AQUA. The quote shown before you confirm is an upper bound, and your slippage setting is a hard floor: if the pool can't fill above it, the withdrawal reverts.
WhaleHub charges no withdrawal fee. Any imbalance fee goes to the pool's liquidity providers.
Risks
- BLUB price. BLUB is a floating, market-priced token, not a claim on a fixed amount of AQUA. Most of the pool is BLUB, so a falling BLUB price lowers the vault's value in AQUA terms. See what BLUB is.
- Impermanent loss. As with any pool, if the two prices move apart, your position is worth less than simply holding. See impermanent loss explained.
- Revenue can fall. Stream B depends on Aquarius voting revenue. If bribes or rewards dry up, so does the vault's main income.
- Contract and keys. The staking contract is upgradeable by a 2-of-3 multisig, and a single-signature manager key makes the revenue deposits. The manager cannot move depositors' shares, but a bug in the contract or in Aquarius could still cause losses. See DeFi risks and smart contract audits.
- Thin pool. The pool is small and lopsided, so large single-token exits are expensive.
Who it suits
The vault suits AQUA holders who want a share of WhaleHub's revenue without a lock and without the 10-day unstake cooldown that staking carries, and who accept exposure to BLUB's price. If you want rewards paid in AQUA and are happy to stay staked, staking pays a larger share of the same revenue (50% against 30%). Many users do both, which is exactly what auto-restake automates. Frequently asked questions
What is the WhaleHub boosted vault?
It is a vault over the BLUB-AQUA pool on Aquarius, run by WhaleHub's staking contract. You deposit AQUA (or AQUA and BLUB), the contract adds it to the pool and credits you vault shares. WhaleHub then adds 30% of its ICE voting revenue to the vault as extra liquidity without minting new shares, so each share is worth more LP over time.
Where does the vault's yield come from?
Mainly from WhaleHub's voting revenue: the protocol votes its pooled ICE on Aquarius, earns AQUA, and puts 30% of it (Stream B) into the vault. Swap fees on the pool add a little. The pool itself earns almost no Aquarius rewards, because Aquarius stopped directing rewards to BLUB-AQUA in mid-2026.
Why deposit only AQUA?
The pool holds far more BLUB than AQUA (about 3% AQUA by quantity on 25 October 2026), so AQUA is the scarce side. Adding the scarce side mints more LP per unit of value and moves the pool toward balance. Single-sided BLUB deposits are switched off for the opposite reason.
Can I withdraw at any time?
Yes. There is no lock and no cooldown. You can take out both tokens pro rata, which costs no pool fee, or a single token, which pays the pool's imbalance fee and is protected by your slippage setting.
How is the vault APY calculated?
The app adds up the AQUA that Stream B deposited into the vault over the last 7 days, values it, divides by the vault's current value and annualises it. It is a backward-looking measure. Because the vault is small and deposits vary with voting revenue, the figure can move a lot from week to week.
Put idle AQUA in the vault
Deposit AQUA on its own, and WhaleHub's voting revenue grows your position without any claiming.
